Psalm 14:1-3 The fool hath said in his
heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works,
there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the
children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek
God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there
is none that doeth good, no, not one.
A few days ago, I was reading
the newspaper and there was a story about a local "gay pride" march.
As the story went on one participant was quoted as saying "People don't
understand this is just who I am. I was made this way, it(homosexuality)'s genetic." To which I would
have to say "Nobody understands better than God, that that is how you are.
You weren't made that way, but it is genetic.". Don't worry, I will start
making sense here real quick.
We can see from the passage above that God knows full well how this guy is. He knows how we all are. They(humans) are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. There was no good in me. I was no different from a homosexual, a child molester, a rapist, or any other horribly evil thing. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. As a sinner, I am guilty of breaking the law, and just as guilty as this guy.
When man was created, he was sinless. Man was not made "that way". Man chose that path. Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Sin was man's failure not God's.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: We see here that sin is genetic. This guy got sin from his parents, who got it from his parents, and so on, and so on, all the way to Adam. So to recap: God knows we are sinful. Man made himself sinful. We, being the sons and daughters of Adam, have inherited the sin gene. Sounds pretty hopeless.
However, there is a cure.Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Next time we will learn more about the cure, as well as some pleasant side effects.
